Night Guards

Dental professional holding night guards in front of smiling woman.

Are you a nighttime tooth grinder or clencher? The first step in maintaining good dental health is to safeguard your teeth. Prevention is the key to good oral health. Your teeth can be shielded from frequent problems caused by unneeded wear with the use of night guards.

Your upper and lower teeth are separated by a barrier of protection created by a night guard.  Mouth guards are soft and give a cushion to alleviate the pressure brought on by clenching and biting since they are composed of acrylic, which is a soft material. Additionally, a tailored fit guarantees optimal comfort so you may wear them for extended periods of time.

Our dental lab may create a night guard just for you by using imprints of your teeth to create a unique replica. Since they stay in place and are less heavy than the over-the-counter version, custom night guards are more comfortable and efficient. Your personalized night guard can aid in improving sleep quality, reducing other sleep apnea symptoms, and preventing tooth damage from grinding.

What Leads to Bruxism?

The act of grinding one’s teeth is known as bruxism, and it is usually associated with things like stress, anxiety, smoking, sleep apnea, snoring, and weariness. To avoid damage from clenching and grinding, it is advised to wear a tiny mouthpiece that clamps tightly over the upper or lower anterior teeth. Bruxism symptoms include:

  • Perpetual dull headache.
  • Aching jaw.
  • Excessive tooth wear.
  • Broken or loose teeth.

It’s a good idea to come in for treatment if you think you could be grinding your teeth. In addition to repairing any existing tooth damage, we can fit you with a personalized device, often known as a splint, night guard, or mouth guard. Get in touch with us right away for a thorough assessment.
